Coptic Church Finder Privacy Policy

Coptic Church Finder helps users discover nearby Coptic Orthodox churches, view church details and livestream links, save favorite churches on their device, and optionally send a church suggestion or request to be connected with a priest.

Location

  • The app may request precise or approximate location permission so it can show nearby churches, sort listings by distance, and center the map around the user.
  • Location permission is optional. Users can still browse and search manually without granting it.
  • Device location is used on-device for nearby features. The app’s contact forms do not automatically send live device location.

Information a user chooses to submit

If a user uses the church suggestion or priest connection forms, the app may send:

  • the name the user provides
  • a general location or region
  • a reply email
  • the message the user enters
  • the church the user referenced
  • app version details needed to process the request

This information is sent to our backend service so we can review suggestions and respond to connection requests.

Saved churches and on-device data

  • Favorite churches are stored locally on the user’s device so the app can remember them.
  • This local favorites list can be cleared by removing saved churches or uninstalling the app.

Services and links used by the app

  • Google Maps SDK for Android is used to display the church map.
  • Supabase-backed services are used to load church data and process submitted forms.
  • When a user opens a livestream, website, or directions link, they leave Coptic Church Finder and the destination app or website handles that activity under its own terms and privacy policy.

Security and retention

  • Data sent from the app to our backend services is transmitted over encrypted HTTPS connections.
  • We only ask for the contact details and message content needed to review church suggestions and respond to connection requests.
  • Submitted requests are kept only as long as reasonably necessary to review them, respond, maintain service records, and meet legal obligations.

User choices

  • Users can deny or revoke location permission in Android Settings at any time.
  • Users can choose not to submit any contact form.
  • If a user wants to ask about or delete information sent through a form, they can contact us at the email below.
